Nora Armani is an award-winning actress, filmmaker, producer, and theatre practitioner. She has toured internationally with her self-penned plays winning critics' accolades and awards. She has starred on screen and in Television in the USA, UK, Egypt, France, and Armenia. Her most recent co-starring screen roles include Absolute Dominion (Netflix) directed by Lexi Alexander, and The Last Wish (Finland- Spain) directed by Rax Rinnekangas. Currently, both are in post-production. 

 

Ms. Armani has produced feature and short films that have been screened at the Official Selections of festivals such as Cannes (Haifa by Rashid Masharawy - Un Certain Regard), Rotterdam (Last Station by Harutyun Khatchatryan and Nora Armani - in Competition), Edinburgh, Paris, London, Amsterdam (IDFA) and her own directed short film has won her a Best Woman Director of a Short award for iMigrant Woman, at the Toronto Independent Film Festival CIFT. The film was a finalist and semi-finalist in many other festivals.

 

Armani is the Founding Artistic Director of SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York since 2013. The festival has screened over 700 films from 40 countries. She holds two Master's Degrees; in Sociology from the London School of Economics, and more recently, in Theatre/film from Hunter College City University New York. She has contributed to important publications and presented papers at Harvard University and at Columbia University (Harriman College) on identity in the films of Sergei Parajanov. She has taught at The University of La Verne, California, LSE, AUA, and NYIT. Armani divides her time between New York and Paris, but travels to other parts of the world for work, such as London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Yerevan.

 

Nora was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Alexandria Film Festival of Mediterranean Countries, in Alexandria, Egypt.
